FLOWERFUL ECHOES OF TRANSCENDENT REALMS
Barbara Herold feat. Kim_Twiddle at the ArtLAB Gleis 1, Regensburg BHF
The exhibition “Flowerful Echoes of Transcendent Realms” is dedicated to the first joint collaboration project of Barbara Herold and Kim_Twiddle: the video work APHRODITE 360 020 (2018) shows the metamorphosis of a virtual orchid growing and decaying in recurring variations of sound and color. In an unfolded 360°view, colorful, semi-transparent elements of flowers, leaves, buds, and stem dance around its center, overlapping and condensing into abstract forms. Kim_Twiddle gave “Aphrodite” a voice. With self-produced sample material, vocal recordings from the looping device and sound and noise surfaces looped through effect chains, she created a fluid-organic, ethereal and abstract soundscape that accompanies the decay and growth of the virtual plant.
At donumenta ART LAB Gleis 1, the video work will be shown in a never-before-seen form of multi-projection as an ornamental arabesque ribbon that dynamically covers and permeates the tunnel visually and acoustically. For the opening on September 23, Kim_Twiddle will accompany the arabesque live in SoundSetups.
Also on view: APHRODITE augmented reality app, IM SCHATTEN DER LINDEN interactive video installation (2008), and floral video snippets and loops.
