Dear art lovers,
We cordially invite you to the concert performance by SULP (Georg Rudolph, Julia Sakas, Veronika Veit) on May 11, 2024, at Satellit, Weinst.11 in Berlin:
Doors Open with drinks from 17:00
Concert performance: SULP from 18.00 – 19.00
Closing with cocktails until 20.00
SULP oscillates between a concert with their own songs and an art performance.
The band sees itself as a sculpture whose sound material is mainly digital and uses the human body to sing and perform.
The musicians, who live and work in Munich, describe their music as follows: “Delicately funky synth-pop” (Georg Rudolph, technology and keys) as “songs with chansonesque narratives” (Veronika Veit, vocals) in the “80s pop wobbler sound” (Julia Sakas, vocals, saxophone, percussion, keys).
The current 45-minute program tells stories in English about small everyday things such as bras, earpads, reptiles, robots, memories, wishes – all of which, on closer inspection, turn out to be social traps: “Golden cages of concepts and consumption that we have built for ourselves. We are the ones who are leaving the next generation a prison of neo-liberalism. We can’t get out of it either. To use prosperity to be happy is much easier than separating joy from consumption and taking care of your own salvation.”
