Sabine Raithel meets the artist Susanne Rottenbacher – EinfachKunst.

Sabine Raithel interviews the light artist Susanne Rottenbacher in a Youtube video.

UNPAINTED artist Susanne Rottenbacher is a true light poet. Her works look like hand-painted photographs. She paints curves, lines and shapes into the room – and also makes them disappear again. Her objects seem to literally float in space. Feather-light and yet enormously expressive light symphonies – sometimes color-explosive, then again restrained elegant. In this way, the artist creates new dimensions with light.

Susanne Rottenbacher, born in Göttingen in 1969, studied in New York at Columbia University. Stage space and then completed a degree in light at the Bartlett School of Architecture and Planning in London. She worked as a stage designer at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and as a lighting designer for the office “LichtKunstLicht”. In this context, she conceived, among other things, the lighting design of the Federal Chancellery and the new government buildings. Since 2004 she has been working as a freelance light artist in Berlin.

Her works can be seen from 19.09. to 24.10.2021 at the Kronacher Kunstverein.
