Aura is a digital video artwork by Italian artist duo APOTROPIA from the Altered Ego Series. It is a series of video artworks that explores the de-materialization of human identity in the digital world.
A mask can serve to conceal one’s emotions and protect oneself through the enigma. In this work, distorted figures try to escape from outside a body, like emanations of repressed and latent emotions, soon ending up disintegrating as incomplete and unrelated data. They are absorbed within a magma that gradually loses its organicity to convey into a disorganized digital matrix. Aura is part of the Altered Ego suite, a series of artworks that explores the de-materialization of human identity in the digital world.
