The works of the Swiss artist Katrin Niedermeier can be seen in the exhibition Fun Feminism at the Kunstmuseum Basel. The exhibition starts on 24 September 2022 and runs until 19 March 2023.
The Kunstmuseum Basel | Gegenwart presents with the exhibition Fun Feminism around 40 works by artists who illuminate feminist perspectives with a humorous look. The starting point for this is the in-house collection, specifically supplemented by national and international loans. For around 50 years, artists, art historians, gallery owners and curators have been working to strengthen feminist perspectives in the visual arts: ways of presenting gender images and roles are thus redefined. Many of the works created with this intention use irony and self-irony as well as humor to reveal patriarchal structures with a wink and also to expose them. In addition to socially critical perspectives, empowering and pleasurable moments are also discussed.
