On Saturday, the CryptoPunk NFT number 5822 was sold for a total of 8,000 Ether. This equates to the equivalent of approximately $23.7 million. This puts the sale well above the previous record of $11.8 million set in June 2021, with the buyer being the head of blockchain infrastructure company Chain, Deepak Thapliyal. Due to its size, the transaction ranks 4th among the highest NFT sales of all time. In first place is still “Everydays: The First 5,000 Days” by NFT shooting star Beeple, who sold his work for $69.3 million in March 2021. In second place is the work NFT “Clock” by artist Pak, who also changed hands last week for the equivalent of around $54 million – ahead of Beeple and his hybrid sculpture “Human One”,” which sold for $29 million in November 2021.
