Herold & Huth: Surfaced

Barbara Herold and Florian Huth dedicate their collaboration to the topic of nature and artificiality. In the exhibition SURFACED, they show results from the post-photographic investigation of simulated nature and concrete form, which they carried out during a working stay in Switzerland in the Upper Valais in the summer of 2021.

The thematic focus is on the measurement and perception of nature in the virtual. The basis is the principle of the map: From the almighty perspective of an apparent objectivity, the duo develops alternative landscapes and hybrids via photogrammetry, CG and collage in the analogous process of cyanotype.

Since 2013, Herold & Huth have been realizing joint works in different media. The video work VOID can currently be seen in the exhibition Willkommen im Paradies at the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf. Barbara Herold deals with playful systems in the threshold space of the real and the digital. She studied Fine Arts/New Media at the HBKsaar in Saarbrücken with Ulrike Rosenbach and Tamas Waliczky. Florian Huth is dedicated to appropriation and fake. He studied with Olaf Metzel at the ADBK Munich.
